Description
Honda CX500C 1982, MOT and Tax exempt. Great condition. Fantastic looking bike with very presentable chrome and decent paintwork. Original decals. Not showroom but very pleasing and useable.
The pics are before it's cleaned and polished up so not so shabby.
One of less than 40 UK road registered. Very rare UK bike. Still has the original number plate. ( very apt plate )
28700 miles likely genuine given its history of being on and off the road for periods of 5 or 10 years and the feel of the reassuring smooth gear changes.
New fork tube stanchions, new fork seals with heavy duty fork oil. Replacement mirrors, britax pipes. The collector box is the original sankei in good condition.
Well maintained and serviced. Heads refurbished with colisbro valve seats. All grease points addressed where necessary, shaft etc.
Carbs cleaned and set. Only run on super unleaded. Started weekly, excess fuel burned off each start to keep the carbs clean. Used periodically.
New radiator flush and coolant. Ignitech Electronic Ignition. New battery.
Brake overhaul front and back. Hel stainless steel hoses. New fluid and master cylinder. Stops very well.
New Bridgestone tyres, front and back fitted 2022. Not much mileage on them.
Probably some service spares lying about I can throw in.
Worth the asking price given it's rarity and originality and very low mileage. Everyone wanted the custom CX from childhood. The coolest bike from the 80's. The look, the lines, the stance, it had it all. So I bought this misspent youth and enjoyed it for the last 8 years but clearly not enough time to use it. Mileage was about 27600 when i got it. Now only 28700. Hard to let it go. It was off the road 7 years before i got it and sympathetically put it back on the road keeping it original where possible.. before that it was off road for 5 and that trend continued further back in its life, so I'd say it had a charmed life. The smooth gear changes are testimony to that. A nice smooth clunk.
open to sensible offers.
