Description
Reluctant sale of my lovely XS650 due to health reasons.
This is a rare UK model from new - originally registered with the DVLA in June 76 on a 'P' plate. UK spec means twin front discs and lower handlebars. Its had 9 owners before me so not that many for nearly 50 years. Mileage is 23, 900 but may rise slightly as it is used now and again.
Still has its original owners manual and toolkit with bag.
It comes with its original yamaha key that fits the ignition, petrol cap, seat and steering lock.
Its a matching numbers bike.
This XS is in very good condition. The previous owner had started the restoration by getting the engine sorted (I have no documentary proof but it goes very well). I have taken the engine out to get the frame repainted and I have also had the bodywork professionally repainted with new decals.
I have given the engine a service to include replacement of all oil filters, air filters, plugs, adjusted the cam chain and checked valve clearances.
Timing has been set correctly with a strobe light and is not over advancing at 3200rpm.
I have given it new wheels (that exactly match the profile of the originals), new genuine Yamaha spokes, polished up the hubs. New Avon tyres that have only done about 100 miles. New brake pads.
I also replaced the starter clutch (a well known XS problem).
Much of the chromework is original and in very good condition so has not been replated. There are one or two small dinks in both mudguards but not that noticeable - just normal patina for the age. I did get many of the smaller chrome parts rechromed eg chainguard, kickstart, front fork shrouds and also the rear light bracket as I just thought it looked better (the original is just painted when it leaves the factory, I believe).
Recent new battery. The charging system has been checked and is working well.
New chain and sprockets just fitted.
Overall a very nice UK XS650B that is recognised by the DVLA as an Historic Vehicle so no road tax to pay and no MOT necessary.
No reasonable offer refused.
