Description
Step back in time with this stunning 1964 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III (BJ8) convertible (with overdrive), an iconic British roadster that captures the essence of classic motoring. Finished in an elegant cream exterior paired with a striking red leather interior, this beauty is not just a car, but a statement of style and sophistication.
The current owner of this Austin Healey is understood to be the fourth owner, the previous owner having owned it for over 20 years. Tracing back, the previous owner inherited it from father-in-law, who, in turn purchased it from the individual who bought it new from the factory. The car was the subject of a total ground up restoration in 1995 and comes with the BMI Heritage Certificate. The car has been garaged, well cared for and is in excellent condition.
In terms of electrics, the car has been converted to an electronic ignition and has had the dynamo replaced with a positive earth Dynamator. The original alternator comes separately with the car, along with other bits and pieces, including tonneau cover, spares and the Haynes manual.
The car has fully synthetic oil in the engine and the radiator runs on Evans’ waterless coolant. The brakes have been upgraded with ventilated discs and Greenstuff pads. The wheels are fitted with sports 185 x 70 VR 15 Blockley tyres.
In term of improvements which could be made to the car, the modern seatbelts in the rear (child friendly buckles) could be swapped out for something more classic. There is a small tear in the fabric roof (rear right), which ought to be repaired and the red leather interior is just starting to show some signs of becoming a little tired in some places, such as driver side seat. I bought this car because I think it is one of the best looking classic cars ever made. I love the grill, the headlights and the cars' curves. I also bought it because you can put a couple of kids in the back, which means it actually gets used. I love the fact that the car starts every time and, once it's out and about, its elegant old British white catches eyes wherever it goes.
