Description
1966 Ford Mustang Fastback 289 Auto.
I have owned the car for the last 14 years and has been subject to a full rotisserie restoration in that time.
Last year I fitted a new built 289 V8 with a mild cam. New pistons all bearings, uprated oil pump. Ford Motorsport inlet manifold. New Holley 600 cfm vac sec Carb. New water pump. Ceramic headers mated a full custom stainless exhaust magnaflow glass pack mufflers. (SOUNDS TUFF!)
During lockdown the bodywork was stripped back to bare metal and many panels were replaced. New complete floor sections. Inner wings with chassis rails. Bulkhead. Front wings. Rear quarter panels complete. Front and rear valances plus the additional of a new Shelby Trunk lid. (Very expensive with shipping)
The body took 2 years to complete and was treated to several coats Ford Signal Flair followed by the clear coat.
The result is just stunning with gleaning ripple free paint. Arrow straight panels
Complete all new tinted green glass was imported from the U. S. A.
While the engine was being built the cars gearbox was also rebuilt. The transmition is Ford C4 unit with shifter and uprated clutches.
With the drive train sorted attention was also paid to the Steering, Suspension and Brakes.
Upfront is fitted with Wilwoods finest 6 piston Calipers with new road spec pads and vented discs. New GM style duel circuit master Clyinder
The rear brakes are the stock items with new drums back plates, shoes, cylinders and hardware.
During this time I converted the Steering to rack and pinion. (Randalls) the best on the market and this gives the car a modern feel and none of the freeplay as with a steering box.
The suspension is all new. New leaf springs. Shackle bushes. Grab Tracks front springs and shocks in each corner.
Wheel are 16" vintage wheel works and are in stunning order with matching B. F Goodrich rubber all round.
I have also replaced all the body rubbers. New lights and trim surrounds. All lights are now moden L. E. D units.
Too much to list and I'm sure I have forgotten a bunch off stuff. The restoration is fully documented with a ring binder full of invoices and and some from the original owner in the U. S. A. I dare add them up.
To summarise she is a beautiful car. That I have spent much time and money on to get just how I want it. Nice spec with power brakes, Power steering and Automatic transmission make this a perfect cruiser.
It's a reluctant sale. Not 100% percent sure of sale but I have an itch for something different.
