Description
1990 Lotus Elan SE Turbo in Pacific Blue, It is a solid original car with low mileage of 83, 500 it has been looked after and kept on the road but seen little use in my 13 years of ownership. This is the 165bhp Turbo model.
It had a full respray last year which has settled nicely and really shines with no lacquer swirls. The alternator was replaced along with new cambelt, pulleys and water pump. Headlights were also restored with new cogs and motor. Brakes rebuillt with callipers and pads front & rear. Full MOT to August 2025. It has advisory’s on rear alloy wheels but I’ve been quoted £100 to get that sorted and will do so before sale. Fronts were refurbed last year.
Hood is OK and watertight with no rips, though is almost certainty the original. New windows seals. It has been garaged so not damp inside. Carpets cleaned and original leather seats re connalised in proper charcoal grey.
Things to do? the rest of the interior and dashboard could do with further work but everything is there and works as it should. Tyres are OK with plenty of tread but mixed pattern. It’s priced to sell and as I said is a genuine car with sheaves of bills. There is a factory maintenance manual and original service book with history and old MOT’s. Lotus has had several private number plates, but HPI clear.
If you want to know more about these cars they have outstanding but safe handling, decent reliability and excellent support from the LEC website - details above
Located just outside York near A64. Sometimes described as the reliable Lotus, they are a relatively rare sight on the road. Considered my many to be the best handling front wheel drive car ever, Lotus spent years getting this right, but launched the car just after the cheaper MX5 and lost money on them so production ceased. Made at the time General Motors owned Lotus, many parts are GM/ Vauxhall in origin and I've never had problems getting spares. The support from LEC (Lotus Elan Central) is the best around with really good guides and help to fix things and a source for trim bits members have remade.
