Description
Honda CT70 Trail 70 similar to ST70 - Dax - minitrial BUT rarer. 1970 K0 model. The CT was the off-road model, and this one has a front AND rear brake on the bars. 3 speed semi- auto of course.
It is UK registered, built in March 1970. V5C in my name. The previous owner, a JVMC member, bought it in 1998 from AP motorcycles who had imported it from California. When he bought it, it was un-restored original condition and needed some re-commissioning / tidying to get it running — one new tyre, painted the wheel rims, powder coat the seat base, general service.
I bought it in 2022 (with just under 2200 miles) as an itch I wanted to scratch. I am the second owner on the V5 and it has now covered a very few extra miles. It is somewhat of a survivor as it has a lot of the original parts still in place. It does have some knocks and marks but is generally pretty nice / original and so it is both very usable and collectable, without obsessing about spoiling new paint / chrome / etc.
The last owner’s daughter used it at VJMC rallies until she grew up and then it was stored in his house, a show piece for 15 years! I have enjoyed my time with it but can’t keep them all and now want to buy a two stroke.
It has very recently had a new plug, oil and battery to put it back in full working order and it runs like a sewing machine. It is quite nippy and of course it would make the coolest, retro paddock bike ever.
It is now registered as a historic vehicle hence zero road tax and MOT exempt. There are two original keys for the ignition, and an owner's handbook is included with the bike and a copy of the parts catalogue. Oh and a couple of unused tyres.
This is a fifty-year-old bike that has never been fully restored, so not perfect / show condition - just pretty nice, and usable. A collector’s item that will, I am sure, appreciate.
