Glinda has been a beloved family car for three years but the time has come for her to find a new home!
She has undergone extensive work in that time, including the full re-welding of her sills and rear arches, and subsequent respray of those areas.
There is a some more work to do to make her a pristine example (e. g. small patch of rust in the lower passenger door sleeve, some rust on the hubs, a little under her front bumper). She has just undergone a full service and will soon have her engine mounts replaced. There is also some spotting on the roof liner and a grill clip has broken.
I've kept every receipt and invoice since purchase so you can see the full history of work. I also have her original service book, manual, and "birth certificate" from her origins in Switzerland. Volkswagen Golf (MK2) - 1988 - E864 FNM

History
Built in Switzerland (I have the original ‘birth certificate’, manual, and service book)
Driven over to the UK in 1990 and owned by the same couple living in Bedford for most of its life
Acquired by new owner in February 2020 who sent it to abroad for repairs and restoration in the same month
I acquired the car in July 2021 and it has been a daily driver ever since. We took her to Wolfsburg in March for the 50th anniversary of the Golf and we were allowed to drive her into the Autostadt compound

Replace rear subframe bushes
Investigate corrosion on the brake lines
Investigate vibrations in the steering wheel at 60mph+/ repeated wear of nearside CV boot (she is rarely driven above this anyway)
Small rust spots on front wheel arch/ lower door skins on the passenger side
Seal underneath for longevity
New exhaust system - the current one functions well enough (no advisories in the February MOT) but the car would benefit from a custom system as it currently rattles at low revs
