1989 Honda Accord Aerodeck For Sale
Selling this car as a bit of a running project, it runs and drives very nicely and in the 12 months I have owned it I have travelled over 2, 500 miles around the country and it has been fantastically comfortable and 100% reliable. It is a 35 Year old car with 165, 000 miles and cosmetically it shows, the bodywork is far from perfect, with many small blisters and scratches in the paint, scuffs on the bumper corners and is a little scabby around the wheel arches. It had welding done to the rear of the sills in 2022, however it has been done very much to an MOT standard and no more. I have tried to document the bodywork as best as I can in the pictures, so please study them carefully.
Mechanically, the car has ran beautifully the whole time I have owned it and I have no reservations whatsoever about the mechanical condition of the car. The service history is almost unbelievable! It was a one owner car when I bought it and there is a very large folder full of invoices of every bit of work done to this car over the last 35 years, including over 45 service invoices! It was serviced twice a year most years (Every February & August) only being reduced to once a year from 2020 onwards when its annual mileage was minimal.
Although the car does run and drive well, I do feel that it might benefit from a carburettor tune, unfortunately I don't really know what I am doing when it comes to carburettors.
As mentioned, the service history is almost unbelievable, there are so many service invoices and maintenance documents from the past 35 years, including the original bill of sale from Honda In Preston for £10, 500! The car is completely original, down to the original Honda stereo cassette, however unfortunately the cassette mechanism isn't working, I think it will just require new belts as I played a tape successfully for a few seconds before it stopped working when I bought the car. The electric areal also does not function unfortunately as pressing the button only results in a clicking noise from the motor.
The interior is stunning, particularly for the mileage! There is no wear on the seats, on the steering wheel or on the doors. I am astonished how well everything looks and feels inside. The only comment to make is that sitting in the drivers seat as opposed to the passenger seat you can tell the drivers seat foam is more worn but it is only very minor. The heater works very well and all the stepper motors for the direction of the airflow are functioning perfectly, the only slight issue on that front is that level 1 doesn't work on the fan speed, but that will just be the heater resistor and it hasn't bothered me enough want to change it.
If the car is left out in the rain, water does get into the passenger footwell, I am fairly certain that this water is getting in via the passenger door seal but I have been unable to source a replacement. I did find one in Germany but the seller was unwilling to post to the UK and it has since sold. During my ownership however I haven't found this much of an issue as I have been keeping it in a garage.
The tailgate struts have also lost their oomph unfortunately, so I have been using a conveniently sized piece of wood as a strut in its place. Under the boot floor is the original space saver spare wheel, jack and tool kit, all brand new and unused sitting atop an immaculate boot floor. The car also comes with a full size spare wheel. It would make a great running and driving project car for someone, as I have mentioned it runs and drives very well and it is only cosmetically where it suffers really. Having to move it on due to lack of space and time primarily.
