Description

For sale, I have my Volvo 760 Turbo Intercooler which I have owned since may last year.

Reluctantly I am having to sell it on as I currently have 3 cars and a new born in the mix. I have toyed with the idea of storing it, but after the money spent on recommissioning the car, it seemed pointless as it has to be used. It would be suited to an enthusiast and is very well placed to be a daily driver, which I have done. The car has done just over 101, 000 miles, which will rise due to it being my daily driver.

Registered in January 1990 from Murray Volvo in Edinburgh, the car was a purchase for the Philippines embassy where it spent the first few years of it's life. Traces of this can be seen by the blanking pin covering the flag hole on the bonnet (see pictures) and service documentation within the Volvo folder. After a few years of service, the car was traded in and bought by the owner of Murray Volvo where it was used sparingly for another few years and then sold on again, privately. There are documents that go up to the mid 2000's, but thereafter it gets a little sketchy as the car came off the road around 2010 and was stored again. (MOT history to back this up)

After some years of laying around, the car was bought by a friend of mines, who took it upon him self to begin the process of bringing the car back to roadworthiness. This was helped by the fact the car was covered and on dry ground so it meant that the process of the restoration would be more about the oily bits. Notable changes have been made to this car under the bonnet, especially with a fully recharged air-conditioning system and new cooling radiator with electrically operating thermostatic fan instead of the big viscose fan. New filters, fuel injection system and pumps have been replaced along with fuel lines to help with modern fuels. A full new stainless steel exhaust system has been added and the whole underside is completely sealed to protect the car for every day use.

Being a 35 year old car, there are some car park related scuffs and the odd wee scratch and ding here and there, but on the whole the paintwork great and the panels are straight and original.

The 760 is the 2. 3 Petrol Turbo Intercooler with the M46 gear box with overdrive, knocking out around 160BHP. As far as enthusiasts go, this is the more desirable engine to have as it's economically better to run. All belts and auxiliaries have been changed and recently changing the water pump at a local Volvo garage.
The engine pulls like a train and will waste most modern cars at the traffic light drag race.
At the time of these cars coming out, the complaint was that it was "too powerful" by some customers, but I disagree... this gives me smiles per gallon!

Interior wise, the door cards do not suffer from the usual sagging or stretching of the leather and are swathed in beautiful carpet with no cracks on the plastics or anything.
The seats have some scuffs here and there, but this is ages relating and there's are no holes. Some bolster ware on the driver's seat but again, nothing to bee too concerned about. At the time of writing this, the driver's seat has all the electrics working for seat adjustment and heated function.
No sagging roof linings or dodgy repairs by a Mike Brewer wanna be, this car is completely original.

The rear window has some slight delamination round the edges. This has never bothered me too much and doesn't effect the windows ability to demist on cold mornings.
On the whole, everything works as it should, especially the radio with the rare optional 5-band-EQ which sounds epic, even with tapes. The retractable aerial still operates too!

The rear lights are replacements with the later 740 facelift as the 760 lights are extremely rare and hard to come by, especially in good condition. No leaks in the boot, or behind the lights as they are all brand-new seals.

If you love getting your hands dirty, then the 700 series is the one you love to work on, as most things are easy to replace and can be done with a 10mm ratchet, or basic tools. 99% of parts are still available too, so running it well in to the future will be no problem. And, if you are in the market for an investment, then look no further. Volvos of this ilk are very much in vogue and seem to hold great values and return of investment, too.

Owning this car is a pleasure and driving it is the same. It's a rare colour in the metallic Ice blue and compliments the brightwork really nicely. Everywhere I go, everyone comes to ask questions about it or have a nosey, which is why I don't want to lock it away. It's too pretty for that!

Sensible offers will be considered, so please don't "low ball" and no swaps, either. £4500 OVNO

I think I have covered everything but please don't hesitate to get in touch and ask away. The ride comfort is tremendous and on long journeys this car will excel. The level of comfort is way above everything you would expect and it gives you the confidence to hoon about the back roads or drive it like a delegate is in the rear.

These cars are fantastic for cutting your teeth in to when you want to work on cars. The 700 series is renowned for being easy to replace parts and service, which was a huge part of the design brief.

Practicality is a huge gain, too... the boot is massive and can take suitcases for the family holiday or in my case, a full drum kit. If you plan is to use it daily as I have, or show at meetings, then this will fit the brief for both.
