Description
Welcome to the sale of my cherished 1972 350SL. If you're here you will know what the car is about however my SL has gone through an extensive restoration in the last 2 years and it's stunning. Being a 1972 - second year of manufacture (pre facelift) it makes it even more special you'll mainly see 80's cars with the more boxy fronts.
Firstly I have had the car for nearly 10 years and it's always been a third/ fourth fair weather car. It's had 4 previous owners and has just over 94, 000 miles on the clock.
For the last 2 years the car has had huge amounts of work done to it costing over £50, 000 to get it to where it is today and it was well worth it. The car has had the most immaculate bare metal respray with full documentation. I also had all on the chrome redone to suit the paintwork. Also it's had thousands of pounds worth of mechanical work such as brakes, bushes, exhausts, rubbers, hoses and pipes, wishbones, auxiliary bits, tyres, alternators, rear diff etc. Lastly I had carpets redone inside to finish off the works. The soft top was new a few years ago and is great and the car comes with a fully restored hardtop which doesn't get used as the car is used for nice summer driving (if I get the chance).
The car has lots and lots of history and clearly has been a second well looked after car by the previous custodians. I have taken some pictures of the history but you can see more if interested
The sad reason for selling the car is I have a couple of cars, and my partner and I were lucky enough to have twin babies last year - however this means I don't see this car getting much use for the foreseeable. It's the perfect car for someone looking for an R107 who doesn't want the agro of restoring it yourself. I cannot stress enough that although you can buy R107's for £10/ 20, 000 when you take those arches off or lift those carpets you will see bubbling and at some point you'll have to spend the money and time getting it done. The process also basically had the car off the road for the last 2 years. This has all been done and is ready yo be enjoyed.
Car is MOT and TAX exempt however I will be getting a fresh MOT (like I have always done). As part of the restoration the car has also had a full major service.
Any questions please get in touch. The car is based in Bury St Edmunds if you'd like to view. The car has extensive history which is actually quite interested as it's dating back into the 70's and 80's. Loads of MOT's etc.
Being an early R107 newly restored what's not to love. The car turns heads everywhere and is going to be sorely missed. I have seen many many R107's but rarely do you see them in this condition.
