Much rarer 450 model featuring a TVR built 4. 5 litre version of the famous Rover V8 with 285bhp and 300lb torque.
Later facelift model with the better Tremac T5 gearbox, individual rear lights, improved dash and entry buttons on door mirrors
Power Steering, full leather, original TVR alloys. Hard wired battery charger fitted.
Originally supplied by Martin Brundle TVR in Kinds Lynn on 6th July 1998 with serive history with Brundle up to 2001. It was later re sold by classic car spacialist Oselliin Oxfordshire in 2004 and looked after by them until 2009
Since 2011 I believe the car has been self mainteined including a new clutch in recent years however I have no invoices. Clutch certainly feels good
Full service history below
Condition wise I will try to describe as honestly as possibe. Overall the car is in very good condition with nice even paintwork and no major signs of damage or cracking to the fiberglass body. There are of course some stone chips around the front end and the odd light scratch along the flanks. The convertible roof is in very good order with no rips to the rear screen and the targa top in nice condition with just the usual frayed window rubbers.
Inside, again it presents very well wih no rips or tares to the leather and the carpet is still mostly intact with just a loose piece down by the throttle and near the door rubbers. Unfortunatly like mist old TVR's the carpet has faded badly and lost much of it green colour. The leather on the seats has gone dry and has superficial cracking however this could be restored.
The wood dash is present but (again like most old TVR's) the veneer has started to crack in places. Ive showen in the pictures.
To drive, the car is fantastic fun. With all this power and torque pushing a car that weighs just over a tonne the car feel genuinely fast (even by todays standards) and of course has the famous TVR V8 roar. The gearbox feels precise and the clutch engages as it should with no slip. There is a knock in the driveline when going back onto the throttle after a gearchange which I believe to be an engine or diff mount. The car sits at the correct temerature even when stationary in traffic on a hot day and shows good oil pressure. It always starts on the button and everything on the interior seems to work as it should.
I bought the car around 3 months ago at a classic car auction (I was there with a friend, wasnt planning to buy, ususal story) when I got a little nostalgic for a similar Chimaera I owned 10yrs ago and always regretted selliing. As this was the rarer 450 I planned to tidy up the interior and get it menachically refreshed however some structural issues with my house have now come up and so the toy has to go. Given that it needs a little work here and there and its a short MOT I have priced it to sell at £9, 950 or nearest offer. If you check around the cheapest 450 I could find was £15995 and even similar mileage 400s are £14000, 15000.
