Description
This is a sound car I bought a year ago from a dealer specialising in “Dry State” imports.
The intention was to use the shell for a Tiger conversion, however the car is so good, drives well is in original specification (colour excepted) it would be wrong to modify it.
It has benefitted from spending most of its 60 years in sunny California consequently having no rust, except for the bottom of the battery box and no rust repairs.
It has been re-painted from its original light metallic blue at some point likely due to sun damage on the factory finish. The interior trim has been re-done more recently, probably for the same reason.
It was built as a “GT” being supplied with a steel detachable hardtop, but no folding droptop. I have fitted a new soft top together with the frame and elegant folding metal bins which cover the lowered hood giving a sleek appearance.
The paintwork is bright and shiny, but not concourse.
The recently done trim with its red piping complement the wooden dashboard and new crash pad cover. There are new carpets.
The instruments and controls work as they should, apart from the clock.
Most of the body rubbers are new
The wheels are in good shape with nearly new Falken quality tyres.
The exterior bright work is decent and the bumpers appear to have been re-chromed.
Mechanically the car is working well having had many parts re-furbished or replaced. It has been enjoyed frequently on journeys long and short, even a trip to France where the left hand drive was an advantage. I have the steering parts to convert the car to rhd which can be bought if required.
The factory hardtop is virtually rust-free but needs some very small repairs and paint, that also is available separately.
There is a current MOT and the vehicle is registered as a historic, so is road tax exempt.
Reluctant sale due to needing money for a Tiger project.
The Alpine will be at Breamore House car show 11/ 8
