Description
1967 Triumph Spitfire mk3, with rare Lenham fastback hardtop.
Incredibly rare, and fantastic looking motor. It gets so much attention, have even had people ask if it's an Aston.
The car was in Storage for about 30 years, and recommissioned a couple of years ago - service, new brakes, oil, rear UJ etc. Once up and running I purchased the car and carried on with bringing her back to life.
This spitfire is extremely solid, little rust, definitely no rot. Floor pans were solid when I had the interior out.
I've done a fair amount of work: rebuilt the carbs, gearbox bushes, fuel pipes, battery, dash H bracket, fitted new carpets, soundproofing, fitted head rest version seats (new foams and fully recovered) and inertia reel seatbelts for safety, plus various other bits.
I also removed the bumpers to tidy them up/ maybe re-chrome, but preferred how she looked without them and so they're still off but present, with fittings.
Unfortunately I then became ill and did't have the strength to do anything further, and when I recovered I'd somewhat lost interest, so she stood for another year.
I've now come back to her and she needs to be fettled again, and my heart's just not in it any more.
She does run and drive, but needs someone who knows these engines going over it, as often needs some fiddling to get started, plus has a flat spot' in third gear (might be just needing more use). There's a bit of a noise that I believe comes from one of the pulleys, and an engine bay knock that comes and goes - probably a mount needing replaced.
To be honest she just needs finishing off, someone that knows these engines could probably tune and sort it in a few hours, I could spend all day and be further back than when I started.
I think that's an honest description, even if a bit of a ramble.
Paint work, roof vinyl and chrome is what I'd call "oily rag", which I quite like. Not perfect but not bad. Worst is the paint on the fibre glass hardtop which has some air bubbles.
Bumpers & fittings included. Photos showing both with and without.
Any questions please ask.
