Description

This is a magnificent example of the marque.
A complete and superb professional rebuild after the car had been in storage for many years leaves this vehicle in better than new condition with only a little over 5, 000 miles on the clock. The car is fitted with a new aluminium body over new ash frame. Leather interior, walnut dash and wool carpets add to the comfort. A luggage rack is fitted over the fuel tank. The radiator is enhanced by a silver “Nymph of Speed” sculpture cap with a spare plain cap provided for when the car is left in public places.
The three-litre overhead valve engine has been totally rebuilt with a new main crankshaft, modern bearings and seals and does not leak oil. It starts immediately and runs beautifully and in near silence. It has been run-in on a dyno and rates at 90HP. The compression ratio is 7. 223 to 1. The original magneto is included but the car currently operates on a Bosch electronic ignition system. The vacuum fuel delivery system is in place, but fuel is delivered by a discreet electric pump. The vehicle has been modified to run on un-leaded fuel, delivered via twin SU carbs. The original generator is in place but has been modified and fitted with a Volkswagen inner for enhanced performance. A modern external oil filter has been fitted to replace the original internal mesh filter. The stainless-steel exhaust has been ceramic coated. The brakes and all running gear are in excellent condition. The walnut dash displays a full set of Jaeger instruments plus an eight-day clock.

Paintwork is BMW “Karrimor” red over black & in excellent condition. The hood and tonneau are of beige Mercedes Benz Sonnendeck. The interior is new tan leather to the front & rear with cinnamon wool carpets. Under the bonnet the car is equally tidy with large expanses of copper & brass pipe work evident along with polished aluminium.

The car sits on wire spoke wheels shod with recent tyres. A side mounted spare is supplied.

The original Sunbeam Owner's Manual is included, along with the correct Sunbeam List of Spare Parts booklet. A detailed list of the work completed on the vehicle plus hundreds of photos of the work when in progress is available.

All in all, a wonderful car that is a great pleasure to drive. It cruises comfortable at highway speeds, making it a joy to drive on the open road. The original servo/ power assisted brakes do a great job.

This vehicle has been described as the best example of the marque in the world. It is currently located in Australia and shipping can be negotiated. Detailed mechanical report available.

Very competitively priced, way below the cost of the works completed. This vehicle is a true delight to the eye and a charm for the driver. It is impressive in any line-up and will thrill for many years to come. Look at more photos at sunbeam dot lovestoblog. com or call for more information. It is currently in country New South Wales but can be delivered to the seaport at Sydney.
