Description

If no sale this beautiful car will have to be stored for the winter. No classic car deserves that!

A beautifully restored 1965 MGB Roadster. 1800cc, manual four-speed with overdrive in classic British racing green with wire wheels.

The car is registered with the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.

It is road tax and MOT exempt. HOWEVER, it has a valid MOT which expires on 22 May 2025; I have ensured the vehicle has maintained valid MOT status since purchase along with routine servicing.

All servicing and MOT reviews have been through an MG specialist (Tim Kelly, a British Motor Heritage Approved Specialist and MG expert).

I bought the car in May 2022 from JMB Motorsport in St Albans, a company focusing on the modern classics: the car has gone through ‘…an extensive concourse restoration [c 2020] which included a rebuild of the engine, gearbox, chassis and interior trim’. Paperwork regarding the restoration is available.

The vehicle is located in the south-west, near Truro, Cornwall and when not driven, it is kept in a semi-heated garage.

PRICE DROP: OIRO £25 000. This car is an absolute pleasure to own and drive.

To purchase this MGB Roadster – in British racing green, with wire wheels to boot – was an opportunity I could not miss, one I craved for many years.

I have used it for routine local journeys as one might use a normal car; I think it is sacrilege to leave such a delight in a garage unused. I must add, though, it has not been driven in the rain or on wet roads during my ownership – there is a limit!

The car has quirks as expected for 1965 engineering. Unless absolute stationary, it will not go into first gear, double-declutching is occasionally required, usually when coming down through the box and it is not ‘silent running’. In fact, it has a wonderful throaty roar which turns pedestrians’ heads which then change to stares of envy as the car accelerates away. Many of those in the know – as well as many who are not – pass nods, smiles and thumbs up signs as the car passes!

It has been an ambition of mine to own such a car since my youth when then I owned an Austin Healy Mk4 Roadster, which – hopefully without upsetting too many traditionalists – can be described as an MG Midget in all but bonnet badge.

I achieved my aim in retirement!

Sadly, due to a major change in family circumstances, I need to sell. It is an act I do not take willingly. I was hoping to retain this marvellous example of an MGB Roadster until I could no longer drive.
