Description
A delightful Elan in regular use during my ownership. I bought the car from well-known specialist Paul Matty over 16 years ago. it had been cosmetically restored and fitted with a Lous galvanized chassis. There was some history dating back to 1986 for numerous items including a retrim kit. During my ownership it has been extensively mechanically restored and fitted with sensible upgrades to improve reliability and usability. Major work undertaken by local specialists (Lakeside Engineering and Max 500) includes: driveshaft doughnuts replaced last year, engine and gearbox rebuilds, new rear springs and Spax dampers, propellor shaft replaced, brakes overhauled, new starter motor, alloy radiator with integral electric fan, electronic ignition, alternator, coil, distributor cap and HT leads and alloy billet thermostat housing. Other new parts fitted include sidelights, wheels tyres, battery, air intake grill, some interior trim, gear knob, and interior light. I have all the receipts for these and other items. First registered in early 1966. This is not a car you will be worried about taking out for a good blast along country lanes. It has been regularly maintained, with major restoration and upgrade work carried out. It comes with a recent MoT certificate with no advisories and MoT history since 1986. The paint has some minor blemishes and some micro-blistering but presents very well. It has a 36 chassis plate so started life as a coupe having been converted long before my ownership. Included in the sale are a 1960s push-button radio that I have never fitted, the original cigarette lighter, plus the brake servo I had removed, some other spares, the full Lotus workshop manual, a copy of Brian Buckland's addendum workshop manual and restoration guide and other reference books. An Elan was always my dream car and I have not been disappointed but it's time to let it go.
