Description
Here I have my French registered 1967 Renault 16 R1150 for sale. This car has been in my ownership for over 20 years and has been kept in a dry barn in central France during that entire period. Over the years I have used the car for general running around in the Loire region, but now it's time for it to move on to someone who can appreciate the excellent condition and historical time capsule that it is.
I would really like to see an enthusiast, or someone who has the time and patience to refine all the details that need attention. There are very little issues with the car, no rot anywhere and just easy inexpensive things that can bring this car to mint. The climate that it has been kept in all these years has ensured that everything has remained in such good condition. All window rubber seals are perfect, with no cracking nor perishing, all rubber bushings, seals and other pipework are also in great condition. The majority of the paintwork is original, including the roof, bonnet, tailgate, rear quarters and passenger doors etc. Some of the other panels have been painted/ touched-up at some point during its history and there are a few digs here and there. Mechanically alls well, the column gear selector is smooth, gears select well and the clutch is good. The brakes and handbrake work fine and the engine is quiet and smooth. The carburettor could do with servicing as it has started to run rich. All service kits available from the R16 site in the Netherlands along with all other parts available for R16's. The Torsion bar suspension is rather like sailing than motoring, with bumps and potholes soaked up and barely noticeable.
I have all the service history and handbook with the car and I believe that I am only the second owner. It appears that it has been serviced and maintained at the same Citroen dealer for the majority of its history, right up until I bought it from a local Renault dealer.
Anyone interested must come and see the R16 in order to appreciate how good the condition is. This car really does give you the French experience, nothing else comes close. I've been reluctant to undertake any form of restoration to retain the original patina, I've even kept the front hand-painted numberplate as it is.
The car is currently in the UK, but I shall be taking it back to France should it not sell.
So here's a window of opportunity to own a super rare car, one that does stand out from the conventional classic.
