Description
Fully restored with no expense spared, this beautiful 1963 Triumph TR4 is ready and available for a new custodian.
The cars current owner has owned and looked after her since their purchase back in 1989 when they personally imported her back to the UK from sunny Florida.
She underwent a light restoration back in the 90’s so she was able to be used and enjoyed. Sadly a change of lifestyle and a loss of storage facility saw the car unused and left neglected for a period.
However the story becomes one of resurrection for this fine example of Triumphs wonderful marque. Triumph only produced around 40, 000 of these cars whose design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti makes them one of the prettiest TR variants. With now only around 1000 examples still registered and taxed on the UK’s roads. This in our opinion must be one of the best of them. Today, the four-cylinder TRs are amongst one the easiest post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain as they are supported by lots of component suppliers and other specialists. The Triumph scene is one of the most popular and active clubs around providing great opportunities to take part in rallies, events or simply sharing the love for this great British Marque.
A complete and thorough nut and bolt restoration of this wonderful car began around 2016 and was completed in 2019 by the renowned car restorer Chris Redfern at J & C Classic Car restorations. The car was completely stripped down, with every part repaired, replaced or rebuilt to the highest standard. From bumper to bumper the quality of work is exemplary. Even the quality of the Amco roof vinyl which took several years to source is evident.
The engine has been stripped and completely rebuilt. Although unfortunately the specialist who performed this work has since passed away, along with detailed paperwork, however it is clear that the work was carried out to the highest standards. She purrs along and sounds great with a fantastic note from the new exhaust.
The overall cost of the restoration was way in excess of £40, 000 and is supported by lots of photographic evidence.
The car also received several upgrades to enhance its drivability, including:
• Drum-to-disc brake conversion
• Servo-assisted brakes
• Electronic ignition
• High Torque Starter
• Spin off oil filter
• Electric radiator fan
• Upgraded electrical loom with wiring for hazards and radio
The current owner had MX-Seats and runners supplied and fitted for enhanced comfort. The car currently has the original seats fitted. The additional MX5 seats and runners are available to the purchaser if required. This is a very common amendment in TR’s.
