Description
This is a project car that needs some attention to bring it back to roadworthyness. The car is essentially complete but is missing the rear windscreen. There is a box of spares to aid this restoration. The car has been garaged and off road for the last 37 years. The extent of work required is listed below>
1. Needs a rear windscreen
2. Needs attention to brakes front calipers are seized
3. Needs brake and clutch servos serviced, ( kits are in spares box )
4. Needs some wiring attention eg distributor and plug leads ( spare plug leads provided).
5. Fuse block requires replacement ( spare one provided ).
6. Attention to headlight operation light vacuum modules may need servicing.
7. Some pipes need reconnecting fuel and vacuum pipes.
8. The heater requires to be refitted behind the dashboard.
9. Some attention to the instrument wiring rear of dashboard
10. Chassis is original and in good condition
11. Bodywork is in good condition but a respray at some time would be worthwhile.
12. Because it has been stood for so long all functions would have to be checked for correct operation.
13. Stromberg carbs should be serviced
Car was last on the road in 1987
The extent of work required to put the car back on the road is not considered to be too difficult, perhaps the brakes would be the biggest task and the windscreen. I have owned this car since 1983, I ran it for 4 years then commenced working abroad so the car was garaged and remained there ever since. This will be a good project for someone. Considering the reputation of these cars and the price they command when restored, this renovation project will appeal to anyone wanting one of these classics. The project Elan cars do not appear very often, it is priced to sell. Restored Elans command upward of 15K to 45K depending on the level of restoration achieved .
