Description
I bought this USA DT 175 in 2021. I used to own several versions of this classic trail bike in the 1970’s and took part in long distance trials so this was a nostalgia trip for me.
I restored the bike as a therapeutic diversion from recovering from cancer!
It is registered and taxed but I have only ridden it round the garden but I need the room in the garage now.
Mileage shown is 3, 300. I stripped the bike and cleaned and checked every part as there was lots of red Colorado dust. I removed the cylinder head to inspect the bore which has no evidence of wear. The engine sounds good with no suspicious rattles.
I fitted a new carburettor and ran the engine on two stroke mix. The oil pump needs rebuilding…. parts available for about £20 or just use petroil mix.
Wheels were removed and brakes shoes cleaned…new front tyre fitted…chrome rims are in good condition.
The tank was treated with sealant and professionally painted along with the oil tank…the transfers came from USA!
It has a complete set of new stainless hex socket head screws. There is a Haynes manual to go with the bike and original purchase receipt.
There are signs of use as you would expect but nothing serious. It has mirrors but needs indicator lights and a battery.
