A very well presented, looked after, clean example. Just 56, 000 miles covered and loads of money spent sorting out the known issues with the marque.
In the last couple of years, the feared overheating issues have been faced and resolved - very thoroughly.
At a cost of £1200 the head gasket was done, including checking, refacing and valve work, outsourced to specialist engineers. Cam belt, water pump replaced, coolant flush after bedding-in. New starter motor fitted. Over £2k was spent during the period 2022-23 and the issues resolved.
I have just had a full oil, filters, plugs service as well as fitting a new OE spec rear exhaust.
Also, just had a full air-con service and re-gas so that the climate control works perfectly through the new cabin filter.
Re-assuringly, the bogey-man issues with the marque have been comprehensively covered.
MOT (advisory free) until November 2024 - I will re-test to preserve the anniversary, prior to sale, if appropriate. That you are looking at this probably means that you know that the Rover 75 is a very refined, comfortable and pleasing car to see, own and drive. This car is very clean and belies its 21 years with its condition, inside and out.
It is a very practical, increasingly appreciated modern classic. It has presence, style and elegance.
It had been my intention to run it very long term, alongside my 32 year old MX5..... but, as I get older, the MX5 seems to get lower ( an interesting fault!) so the plan is to buy, and tinker, a single vintage/ classic car from an era when getting into 'em, was not an athletic endeavour!
Whether as a "daily" or garaged and cosseted for the future, this one looks a great choice.
Hard to think where you'd better the qualities mentioned at a more reasonable price. Do come and look.
