Made in the first year of H. E. - only 1. 292 XJ-S' were made in 1981
This XJ-S has 74. 000 miles. It is running and driving perfect, everything is working fine as it should.
The following were carried out on it between August 2022 and September 2023:
Dismantling body for the complete respray and interior for reupholstery.
Repainting the car from the ground up in its original Rhodium Silver Metallic colour.
Pinstriping the coach line (it’s not a sticker).
Installation of new front windscreen (original cracked during removal) with new rubber seal.
Installation of rear screen with new rubber seal.
Reupholstering the interior in original County Tan colour with automotive leather.
Reupholstering the boot with new carpet.
All of the veneer renewed.
Fuel system removed and cleaned (including fuel tank and injectors), installing new rubber fuel lines, filters and fuel pump.
Polishing and repainting alloy wheels.
Cleaning the complete cooling system, installing new Kevlar reinforced rubber hoses, bypass metal lines and thermostats.
Removing, cleaning and rebuilding water pump.
Installing the rebuilt heating core and new heater tap.
Rebuilding the air conditioning compressor, rebuilding the flexible air conditioner hoses to be able to use R134 refrigerant. Flushing the air conditioner system of the old compressor oil.
New receiver drier bottle installed along with a new expansion valve.
Rebuilding of all brake callipers, installing new brake hoses and new brake master cylinder.
Change of oil seals in the rear hub, adjusting the bearing clearance.
Exchange of gearbox mount.
Revision of electrical systems.
Repair of original radio –it’s working great, including the cassette player.
Headlights were refurbished by a professional.
Spark plugs, drive belts, engine oil, engine oil filter, gearbox oil filter and gearbox oil, both air filters, differential oil, brake fluid and coolant were all changed.
This Spring the car made a trip from Amsterdam to Milton Keynes without any issue. It was driven on many enjoyable roadtrips since without missing a beat.
