The Austin Seven was introduced to the public in 1922. Sir Herbert Austin, later Lord Austin, was responsible for the original design of the Seven. The detailed design was created by Stanley Edge. He was the big man behind the Austin Seven models.
This model, the Austin Seven Sports was introduced in 1929 and was given the name "Ulster" due to its success in the Tourist Trophy races at the Ards circuit in Ulster.
