For sale is my cherished oak green Mk2 Golf Gti 8v. Registered Sept 1991 big bumper model with the smoked rear lights and green tint windows, metal sunroof, power steering and electric windows. its covered 112717 miles, I am only the 5th owner from new the previous having owned it since 1997 and after many years of trying finally sold it to me in 2015. the car has been extremely well looked after being garaged most of its life and in the years i've owned it have done light restorative work mainly to the tired looking engine and bay and suspension. all the work was carried out by myself a mechanic of over 28 years and done to the highest standard. the car has a full 12 month mot no advisories and i have a stack of mot's since 1996, both sets of keys with clifford immobiliser fobs, the complete owners handbook with a full service history up to 2010 but the car was serviced every year thereafter by the garage i work in until 2015 and then myself right up to now. the car has always had the best quality oil and parts, a small list detailed below...
engine stripped down and completely refreshed cleaning up or replacing anything required, full top end gasket set, new oem hydraulic tappets, timing belt kit and complete water pump, power steering pump and belts, powdercoated rear engine mount, water housings and much more. powdercoated front subframe new suspension arms, gear linkage kit, starter motor and battery, stainless steel fuel tank straps, new centre silencer and backbox with rubber hangers. The wheels have just been stripped and powdercoated with 2 new tyres they look fantastic! the list is extensive so feel free to message and i can go into further detail providing pictures of the work i have carried out since being the owner. the car has a completely unmarked interior with perfect rainbow pattern seats no marks or signs of wear at all. the car is mostly standard except for a single headlight grille, a momo steering wheel, yellow instrument cluster backing, kenwood cassette player with 6x9 speakers on the parcel shelf and i have the original golf ball gear knob. the car drives like it should no smoke or rattles pulls well for a 90's hot hatch it's great to drive. areas for improvement are the bottoms of the doors starting to bubble and some minor car park dings in the rear quarters and passenger door, some small stone chips mainly around the front end but overall the paint and bodywork is great for a 32 year old car that has never been painted and the whole car is absolutely solid throughout. I have just had a brand new green tint windscreen fitted because a stone chipped it the other week on the way to a classic car event! and in the driver's view so didn't want to repair it just replaced. It's such a nice car to drive its raw and simple without all this modern tech that takes away from the pleasure of driving, it turns heads everywhere, its a beautiful colour and becoming hard to get a good one especially with the history mine has. My wife and i drove it to the silverstone classic and had it on display at the glamis extravaganza this year. My kids love the car too they call it the green car, i used it on my wedding day in the forest and to my first daughters birth and will be a sad day when it goes but we need a house that can't wait anymore its time for someone else to make special memories with it now.
