Description
It is with a heavy heart that we have to part with our Volvo 850 R. As we have children, we unfortunately don't have the time to look after it properly. As we don't drive it on a daily basis, it's hardly ever used - it's far too good to just stand around, you simply have to enjoy driving the 5-cylinder engine. The vehicle is in its original condition apart from the chassis (can be retrofitted with a levelling system). When it was ordered in Hamburg in 1995, everything was ticked except for the heated rear seats and the automatic gearbox. It therefore has a sunroof, 6-disc CD changer in the boot with Premium Sound System, spoiler and metallic paintwork (total price at the time DM 91, 560. 00). Current service and wear condition: - Last service / oil change incl. filter: 05/ 2024 (Castrol 10W-60) - Air filter: 08/ 2023 - Brakes: discs & pads new at the front (11/ 2022 incl. brake fluid), rear approx. 60% - Tyres at the front: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (DOT4520), approx. 75% - Tyres at the rear: Uniroyal Rainsport 3 (DOT??18), approx. 75 % - Transmission oil: New when clutch changed (04/ 2023) - Timing belt: Changed at 198, 021 km at Volvo (08/ 2021) The vehicle has been technically restored/ repaired in the last 3 years. All invoices are available. Apart from the exhaust, the work was carried out at RD Motors in Rastatt, which is pretty much the expert for Volvo 850s in southern Germany.
The biggest points were:
- Turbocharger overhauled, charge air and vacuum hoses new - Cylinder head replaced with metal head gasket, completely overhauled with new valves, crankcase ventilation renewed - New clutch with release bearing, crankshaft oil seal renewed, gear oil replaced - New front brake callipers + discs (upgrade to 302 mm original Volvo) - KAW suspension (original functioning levelling units available), new front strut bearings, New front wishbones, wheel alignment - Seam sealing sills (as a precaution, no rust discovered) - New air conditioning compressor, new air conditioning evaporator (complete dashboard removed), new heating radiator, air conditioning maintenance - 5x new spark plugs (original Volvo), ignition cable set, ignition distributor + rotor renewed (original Bosch) - New water cooler, new water pump, new cooling water hose, Teflon bushes inserted in shift cables - Exhaust incl. Muffler new from catalytic converter (original Volvo) There is also a second set of Volans with winter tyres (good Michelin Alpin, used as parking tyres). There is a Volan with summer tyres in the spare wheel well. The Swede was only parked in the garage on the C-TEK charger, under the cover during the winter. If you want it to be "perfect", you still have to work on the appearance. The Volvo is now 28 years old, so there are signs of wear on the exterior and in the interior. In the long term, I would have had the seats and the headlining refurbished and the paintwork and rims refurbished. Many more pictures and the corresponding invoices are available on request.
