Description
This very rare and original 1939 TB has a recent MOT and a FIVA certificate of authenticity: With an application for Mille Miglia Registro currently in hand, the car had been prepared to enter for next year's event but is now for sale due to a change in circumstances.
The history of this car from 1959 is known and well documented including the 1950s style buff Continuation Logbook, old MOTs, licence discs etc.
The car is thought to have been fully restored back in 1977/ 8 when a five-speed replacement Ford gearbox was fitted. It was then lightly used in the UK and South of France before being put in dry storage for some years.
Having acquired the car two years ago, it was sympathetically refurbished with parts replaced as necessary. This included replacing the Ford gearbox with a rebuilt original type gearbox, rebuilding the rear axle, replacing all hydraulic pipes, cylinders, hoses and brakes, rebuilding the steering box and fitting a new interior. The originality was maintained and is demonstated with the original nickel-plated guarantee plate, engine ID tag and original placards, chrome rocker cover etc.
It has a very sound body with excellent metal work and keeps the cellulose black paint from the earlier restoration. It drives very nicely on new Dunlop tyres.
