Description

This car has been fully restored with every nut and bolt changed and original parts used where possible, the work was done over a few years and done to a very high standard as you can see from the pictures. The car is correctly registered with the DVLA and I have a V5 document in my name, its has kept its original registration following a VOSA inspection which is now be registered as a classic meaning no MOT and Tax.

I have a lot of pictures of the work as well as documents, receipts of some of the parts/ upgrades purchased as well as the original VW Beetle workshop manual used to correctly restore the chassis and engine, this is also included along with other books used such as the Weber carb tuning manual.

The engine is an twin port AB (1300) code original case which was first time align bored to 0. 25mm, the crank was also re-ground to suit. It was fitted with AA precision 1600 barrels and pistons with a SCAT C35 cam and standard new Auto Linear cylinder heads, the fuel setup is a electric fuel pump and twin Weber 36 IDF carbs with correct tuning. The engine also has chromoly push rods, stronger valve springs and solid rocker arms for higher RPM covered with EMPI rocker covers. Ignition is done from a Pertronix electronic distributer and flame thrower 3 coil with custom made HT leads all neat and tidy. There is lots of scope to upgrade this engine even further but TBH its quick enough and has no problem keeping up with modern cars, the gearbox is the original which is from a 1200cc which has a lower ratio and work very well, there is a short shift upgrade so the changes a smooth and short.

The dashboard is totally custom made and covered in black Alcantara with Pro sport 52mm gauges, the switches are Carling which have been upgraded to use white LEDS to match the gauges, front DRL, LED headlights, LED rear lights and fog lights. The interior also has MK2. 5 MX5 seats which are very comfy and suit very well, these are bolted through the floor pan and onto additional metal section underneath, also the car has side impact protection from steel extrusion between the roll cage A and B pillars, like I said a lot safer then others. Custom made roll cage with front and rear bumpers made to suit the car, not these of the shelf junk you find these days.

The car has to be seen and driven, if you are seriously wanting a buggy you will not be disappointed with this one as there are countless additions and upgrades to make this a cool, reliable and safer drive.

The only thing that is not finished are the two wiper arms, I have most of the bits just never got around to sorting.

I am open to export but please only serious buyers, if you want any information about the car please get in touch. Everybody loves the beach buggy and you cannot help but smile while driving one. Each one is unique and finished to it's builders taste.

The car is now registered as an historic vehicle with the DVLA, this means no VED to be paid each year, just insurance and fuel.
