Description

1973 - Datsun 240z - LHD

Owned by me since late 2019 and used sparingly due to lockdown.

Upgraded and painted by previous owner - not a great deal done by me - other than driven.

Metallic blue ( Renault - nautilus blue ) . The white roundel is vinyl and can be removed .

It gets a lot of attention on the road and sounds great with stainless z story exhaust.

LHD arizona import - First registered in the UK in early 2019 .

All numbers matching in the right places on the car and V5

Previous owner did body restoration with repaint and upgrades below in 2019 .

The car was also undersealed by rustbusters in 2019 - who stripped off the old underseal and photo'd the floors etc before recoating and injecting cavities with rustproofing- i have these pics somewhere.

The previous owner advertised as SU carbs ( rebuilt ) , new clutch , timing chain , water pump, electric fuel pump - just prior to me buying it . Ive done a few thousand miles max. since then .

The car has barely seen the rain in my ownership - never mind any salty roads and is clean underneath.

Engine bay - almost everything is , polished and shiney and in fabulous condition. No rust in there.

The whole car is very rust free - and typical areas of rust on a z are visibly excellent - door bottoms , hatch edges , spare wheel well and battery tray are near perfect.

It had a new fuel delivery system ( below ) and 123 electronic distributor system - installed with new coil .

The timing can be set from an app and the engine disabled as a security feature by this device . A local carb and tuning expert has been through the timing and fuel delivery system in the last month - set up the timing on the 123 app and set up / adjusted/ inspected the carbs. It starts from cold with not a hint of smoke .

New Bosch coil and leads fitted with the dizzy.

An electronic facet fuel pump is installed with a fuel regulator and has a manual switch neatly hidden in the ashtray.

The car has adjustable suspension - BC Coilovers and sits on Enkei Compe - 15 x 8 wheels with Toyo T1-R .

The front brakes have been upgraded to Hi-lux items

Front and rear polished Cusco strut bars

Upgraded and aftermaket Aluminium radiator and twin electric fans.

The radiator , like the fuel pump has a manual switch - neatly fitted in the ash tray and can be manually operated as required .

Z story 2. 5" stainless exhaust and JDM style muffler .

Ceramic coated manifolds

K+N filters

Electrics and gauges all work - except the radio . I like the engine sound so havent fixed it. The right turn indicator is a bit sticky.

The wiper motor was recently removed, fully restored and refurbished .

The cavity under with the windscreen was inspected at the time, had no debris and is completely rust free .

The interior is black and also refurbed - all plastics are in great condition.

Seats have been recovered and are in great condition as are all the carpets with 240z logo mats.

It runs well and corners superbly on the coilovers.

I just checked and replenished the diff and gearbox oils last week - so the filler plugs are free - and there was nothing to see in the oils .

The other bits worth noting - as i try to be as honest as possible when listing a car :

It has a Datsun 5 speed box fitted ( was 4 originally) and second gear synchro is slightly worn - noticable on 3rd to 2d downshift on occasion only. Ive been driving it lately now the weather has changed - as long as you arent grabbing gears its fine - This hasnt bothered me but see below - and i have priced to reflect this.

Its original 4 speed box is present and included in the sale .

I also have an S14 box which i purchased with a long term view of gearbox and diff upgrade - which i will include ( im not selling separately ) . That box has never been in my car - bought through a z club member who had it in a kit car / replica.

The details on this swap are well documented online and a well reccomended upgrade to z's by those who have done it - the s14 boxes are getting rarer these days too.

The JDM style wing mirrors were installed by a previous owner and appears to have taken a couple of attempts with the previous install repairs - not to the standard as the rest of the car.

They also shut the bonnet with the oil filler cap left on the engine and has a small damage point on the paint on the bonnet - 2 cm .

There is some paint missing off a chassis rail - where brake fluid got on it - under the bonnet in the engine bay .

Other than that the body and paintwork is excellent.

Its an eye catching car and i can provide videos and photos to show how solid / unrusty this car is by email / whattsapp.

Car is based in North Yorkshire - near Northallerton . 5 minutes off the A1.

Needs to go soon - feel free to contact me with any questions / offers . I bought it as i own another 240z which i was going to sell - and never did . This car is the driving spec i like ( close to original and not overly modded ) and with the intended gearbox swap , will be ( for me) the perfect combination.

It looks and sounds fabulous - and draws far more attention than so many others in the showfield.

Prices on 240z s have been rising - and i think will continue to do so for some time yet . i ve tried to price this sensibly against the description - taking eveything into account.

If i had the space to keep it , i would. Im only selling it as i have run out of garage space ( and a bit of time ) .
