1991 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL - Brilliant Silver over full Black leather, in the true, iconic SL specification.
I bought it from a guy who’d imported this and an immaculate Z3 BMW, at the same time, about 5-6 years ago. He’d barely driven either of them, so decided to move them both on. I saw the SL and couldn’t say no.
Car comes with paperwork from Japan, stating all the info of mileage, car details for the import etc. manuals, booklets, brand new spare key etc. even comes with Mercedes Benz cleaning kit as an optional extra at the time. Unused. previous owner sent it to a Mercedes Benz dealer as soon as he got it, for check over, new spark plugs, distributor caps etc.

Never been wax oiled. Too good to be caked up in wax. Completely dry underneath.
No wiring loom nightmares to worry about, as this is a 91 car, when R129’s were built to the highest quality, unlike later models, sadly.
Interior is in fantastic condition - wood and trims in superb order. Original cassette player (working). Equipped with two stage heated seats (all working). Electric windows and mirrors (all working) heated rear screen (working) 3 stage memory seats on both sides (all working) air con working fine but not cold enough. With it being a cabriolet, I didn’t bother looking too far in to it.
Roll bar working, roof mechanism working perfectly, all as should.
Canvas roof in beautifully order, little nick on the bottom edge of the drivers side. Windows currently being professionally cleaned and de-hazed by detailer, ready for sale
Hard top in perfect condition and the roof lining has been professionally replaced due to sagging, as happens with many Mercedes of this age. Hard top also comes with metal stand.
Drivers seat is as you’d expect from a low mileage car. Just the usual creasing where driver sits. Bolster in excellent order. Passenger side appears to of been sat in very few times.
Speedo changed to MPH use for the UK. Mileage registered and showing in KM’s so will always remain true. Work done since I acquired the car. Car had been dry stored for 18-24 months before I purchased it.

Dare I say it, but the bodywork is not far off perfect, as good as you’ll see for a car of this age. Obviously the odd chip in small places, but It really has to be seen to be appreciated. It’s exceptional. The two tone bumpers are immaculate.
Drives basically like an R129 would've driven like in the 90s, when it was close to new. Quiet, smooth, effortless, not a squeak, not a rattle. The engine is a masterpiece, ticking over as it should, between 600-900 rpm. The gearbox is seamless, you can barely feel it change gear, sometimes you just don’t feel a thing. It’s exactly as should be. Pulls like a train, steers wonderfully, and the ride is smoother than butter

It’s such a cliche isn’t it, but first to see will buy. It does need to be seen to be appreciated. It’s rare to find such an exceptionally well cared for car of this age.
The car is ready to use and wants for nothing. I’d like to keep it, but I don’t really have use for it, sadly. A toy I can’t justify having right now :( this car needs to be loved and enjoyed for what it is.
