Description

Imported to UK 1965.
Car was restored by an Italian whilst on a College restoration course. Restored during 1997-99- using new and restored parts, many sourced from trips to Italy.
His intention was to return the car to Italy, but circumstances forced him to change direction and the car was purchased by myself in 1999.
The car was never registered in his name.
The engine no is not that shown on the V5 but this has always been the one in the car and is correct for a 101.
The car will benefit greatly from being used, the engine runs very well have recently had new pistons, liners, valves, guides. This was due to a slight leak on the headgasket whilst not being used. The engine had partially seized on the rear cylinder. It was thought it could be honed but decided to replace liners and pistons, Whilst the head was off the valve guides, seats. were replaced and a light skim. Work was carried out by an expert. The paintwork has suffered from storage and the purist will want to repaint although perfectly useable as is. Bumpers have suffered some corrosion. Always best to view if interested.
I have researched several cars and believe i have priced this accordingly but there is always room for negotiation. This rare car car was offered to me by a friend who knew i was interested in Alfa Romeos, neither of us had seen another and very little was known about the car other than it was imported. He had not registered the car in his name and neither did I until 1999. At the time i lectured at college and we had an Italian student. He saw the car in my own small workshop and explained how rare it was and wished to restore the car whilst he studied. I had no objection as long as he helped me when needed. Most of the body work had been done so it was mainly paint, trim, and mechanical. Car was restored by an Italian whilst on a College restoration course.
