Description
The vehicle, which had been officially disqualified, was purchased in Rome from a judicial warehouse where it had been kept following a seizure by the Carabinieri for crime-related offences. The car had been used by some robbers who had not stopped at the police station and who, following a gunfight, had subsequently managed to stop the criminals.
It underwent a complete bodywork restoration, with the bullet holes that had hit the rear of the boot lid (3), rear window (3), front windscreen (3j), front wheel cover (1 still visible) being closed. Reconstruction of damaged parts (sills/ battery compartment), windows (windscreen and rear window) with subsequent nitro metallic repainting. The engine was rebuilt from scratch with replacement of the 6 pistons (now 78. 5 CMP size with anti-grip treatment), valves, camshaft rectification with fairing and new bushings (1st rectification). The braking system was completely rebuilt with overhaul/ reconstruction of the two servo brakes, caliper pistons, discs and pads as well as fittings. The brake master cylinder was replaced. New steering bar and all joints and underbody arms.
New suspension. Replaced the wheel bearings. Overhauled the starter motor, dynamo and replaced the voltage regulator from scratch. Overhauled the windscreen wiper and the entire electrical system.
Both carburettors have been overhauled by an expert carburettor technician with remake of shafts and relative bearings, butterflies, gaskets and various jets. New clutch and relative pump. overhauled transmission shaft in the joints is balanced. new upholstery interior with panels and seats redone. remake capote headlining. new upholstery with diamond lozenges identical to the original for the luggage compartment.
New tyres. Opened petrol tank, reclaimed and treated with tankerite enamel. Exhaust system completely replaced.
Instruments (rev counter/ speedometer/ clock etc. etc.) overhauled and fully functional. all components are original In fact, the restoration was complete and now the car is as good as new and in competition condition with an original livery in a very rare colour. The vehicle has been regularly put back into circulation following inspection, retaining the original number plate of first registration Roma 870736. The 2300 S is registered with Asi, has the CRS and has received the GOLD plate recognition without any annotations The kilometres travelled are 2150 Available for any information and testing.
