Description
For sale my Riley RMF, 1952, 2. 5 litre four door saloon, finished in black and cream which I bought in 1999. Been undergoing restoration pretty much ever since. It has a complete, body off restoration by one of the most experienced Riley men in the business. So, chassis all blasted and protected a lot of woodwork replaced, all panels original and re-worked. You name it, it will probably been renewed or replaced. The engine has been completely reconditioned, crankshaft reground with new original 'white bearings', new pistons and rings, cylinder head re-ground, new rings etc. Valves all new and ground to take un leaded fuel. Twin Carbs fully refurbished. Exhaust manifold has been ceramically coated to aid with heat dissipation. New clutch and release bearing, new starter motor. The dynamo, looks like an original dynamo but is a new modern alternator... so lots of amps! Cooling system all refurbed and the only concession to modern hardware is and additional electric cooling pump. The RM's were prone to over heating problems! Gearbox fully re-conditioned.
New wiring harness throughout the vehicle, new lights all round and trafficators serviceable. New Butler style spotlights. New vinyl roof covering, new interior head lining. New carpets, interior reconditioned with the original leather seats. All chrome items throughout the vehicle re-chromed. Resprayed in a two tone black and cream finish.
This vehicle has had in access of £50, 000 spent on her... all receipts and invoices to show, together with some history showing that Jack Brabham once worked on her!
The car has probably only done 100 miles or so since the rebuild, so not yet run in!I originally bought this car from Bourton-on-the-Water Motor Museum. She was in a fairly sorry state. But money and determination has made her, in my opinion one of the best RM's around... not concourse but very close!
