Description
1970 mark 2 MGB-GT. Inspired by the Frontline LE cars and finished in an eye-catching Aston Martin Silver with the Frontline air dam.
Independently valued at £19, 000 in October 2023 as a Condition 2 classic. Genuine and reluctant reason for sale. Priced to sell at £15, 000. The car had a bare metal restoration in 2017-19 with many improvements, including: a professionally built sprint engine (Oselli stage 3 head, uprated valves and springs, hardened seats allowing E5 unleaded fuel use, Piper 270o fast road cam, Omega moly-coated pistons, Arrow conrods & balanced crank, Accuspark electronic distributor/ points, Serck alloy radiator with electronic cooling-fan, Wosp starter and modern alternator, water and fuel pumps). Free flow manifold and 2” stainless exhaust. The engine is mated to a Hi-Gear Engineering close ratio 5 speed gearbox conversion. Up front is a Hoyle coil-over suspension and disc brake conversion and at the rear a Frontline suspension upgrade. All external lighting updated to LED. The MWS knock-on wire wheels are shod in Avon CR6ZZ classic sport tyres with less than 1000 miles use. MGOC full leather interior with the Jaguar-esque boot running strips. Always garaged and recently maintained, serviced and inspected by Luego Sports and Classics (June 2024). 62000 miles from new and less than 3000 miles since restoration.
All improvements maintain the classic car status including the tax and MOT exemptions and were chosen sympathetically to allow a return to original spec if desired. Perfect car for touring, ‘tinkering’ or the foundation for your own adventure.
