Description

Here is a rare opportunity to own a true Eastern Bloc classic, a Skoda S110LS.

The 110LS was a special factory model using the mechanical parts of the revered sporty 110R coupé knicknamed the "poor man's Porsche 911" by the motoring press of the time.

This means the 110LS saloon had the same high compression engine, twin choke carb, performance camshaft, exhaust manifold and bowled pistons as it's coupé sibling directly from the factory. Visually, it gained the four headlamp front panel and LS badging. It's not to be confused with the 110L model, the S makes all the difference.

There were only 40057 examples of the LS made compared to over 1 million of the regular saloon.

Unlike many of it's contemporaries at the time, the Skoda already came with front brake discs with twin piston calipers and independent suspension all round which makes the Skoda a great driving experience.

This 1974 example arrived in the UK from Slovakia in 2013 when I purchased it and set about on a FULL restoration (with photos). This included very minimal welding, genuine Skoda New Old Stock (NOS) wings x 4, Skoda NOS complete doors, NOS Skoda rear panel and a full glass out bare metal respray in its original Skoda 5187 Turquoise. The vinyl interior is in amazing original condition.

The engine was also fully reconditioned along with all the running gear, brakes, cooling system, suspension and gearbox.

Many other genuine Skoda NOS parts were fitted inc bumpers, hub caps, badges, window rubbers and lighting.

Shortly after its restoration, this car was featured in its own 6 page article in Classics Monthly magazine (pdf available).

Since then, the Skoda has attended many events across the UK and is very well known in the Eastern Bloc car clubs.

I have a copy of the original Czech logbook (DVLA kept the original when registering on a UK registration) and the engine number matches confirming the car is original. It also only had 1 owner for it's lifetime in CZ prior to me purchasing it.

It attracts attention wherever it goes with people always first attracted by the colour and then asking what it is.

It is only being sold as I've bought a modern campervan so now I spend my time away in that instead of attending car shows.
