A very original S1 in possibly the best colourway, Norfolk mustard with blue softop and blue leather. Still has the Metal Matrix Composite lightweight brake discs. Owned by me virtually since new. I'm forced to sell with great regrets as I had a stroke in January. Comprehensive documented service history from Lotus specialist. Recent water pump/ head gasket. Now on S2 suspension which is much quieter than the original. Sports exhaust. Yokohama Neo Advan tyres with plenty of tread. Roof rails have been refurbished. Two months MOT left. Comes with a 'shower cap' which covers the soft top, and a virtually new weatherproof outdoor cover. It has a radio and 6 CD changer in the boot, which works.
While mechanically excellent, there a few untidy areas, as reflected in the price - this is one of the cheapest ways into an S1, which could be enjoyed as it is, improved over time or used as a donor for a project. There is minor paint bubbling which is common, on the driver door. There is minor paint oxidation on the wings and a crack in the fiberglass round the exhaust. The leather seats reflect their age, showing little discolouration and minor cracking. None of this distracts from one of the most thrilling sports cars in the last thirty years. I have greatly enjoyed it, and know that nothing I could replace it with will be as exciting and rewarding. I bought this with money left when my Dad died, so it is very special to me. I'm forced to sell due to illness, and hope that someone will have as much fun as I have had in it. It's been well used and well looked after - my wife and I arrived to our wedding in it 20 years ago!). (Never tracked though ). For a car of this age I think it looks $1, 000, 000! Turns heads wherever it goes, and now widely recognized as a modern classic.
