The time has come to bid farewell to my much loved XK140!
Originally supplied by Henlys of London in July 1955, this car boasts a notable history, having been owned by ex-Jaguar Works driver Duncan Hamilton, as confirmed in its records. It's an original RHD Fixed Head.
Since 1979, it's had only four lucky owners. I acquired it in 2017 from Pendine Classics at Bicester Heritage. The vehicle comes with a large history, detailing its restoration and maintenance, including invoices from specialists like CMC Ltd, countless old MOTs, and Tax Discs. It even graced the pages of The Automobile magazine.
A major upgrade is the 5-speed gearbox, which transforms the driving experience. Purists fear not… the original gearbox comes with the sale. I purchased the car in a rather unflattering “silver” so I quickly I gave it a full-body respray to return it to its original Birch Grey so that is now sits in the same spec as it did leaving the factory. I also added front disc brakes.
The tyres and interior are in top-notch condition, with a body as straight as an arrow, and no major work needed. This car has been my trusty steed on many trips from London to Cornwall, never once misbehaving.
The weekend just gone I drove it on a 2 hour drive where it was wedding car and despite the rain and conditions doing its best the car made this a fantastic drive remaining dry the whole way and not dropping a bit of oil or water.
Parting with it is hard. But with a growing family, my wife has decreed that we need something a bit more practical—like a car we can actually fit a car seat into! So, it's time for a new chapter. Feel free to call me to discuss,
