Description
This Rolls Royce will have it's 46th Birthday in September, so just under 3, 000 Miles per year.
I'm the 9th owner.
As it's a Historical Car, it doesn't require an MOT, Road Tax (you still have to apply but it's Free) & it's LEZ Exempt.
I have a folder of history going back to 1995.
The Service Book is stamped from 1979 to 2023. Evans Halshaw then Balmoral (A well known RR specialist) for most of it's life.
I've had Mulsanne Motors of Dalkeith do the work I've required. So it's been well looked after all it's life.
I bought her in Derby, drove her to Central Scotland with no issues. I then handed her to Ross @ Mulsanne Motors to give it an assessment. He was quite complimentary about its condition. He did the jobs required for me to take her on a trip (Engine Mounts, Suspension shims & Hand Brake).
I also gave it a good clean inside & out.
I also replaced the Garish 80's Sony head unit with a more modern BlueTooth unit. I kept it Blaupunkt (and also more understated) as thats what make the original Tape Deck was (which I still have).
The Trip was with my Parents (They didn't know I was turning up in her) From Central Scotland to Kettering, then to Barmouth in West Wales followed by Cheltenham & back to Scotland. I had to top the Coolant and Oil up, but it was asking a lot from a 45 year old car. But she handled it perfectly.
I then put her back into Mulsanne Motors to do some of the jobs that needed done.
Carb strip & refurbishment.
Replace aftermarket Fuel Filter & Hoses with correct items.
Replace bushes in both Lower Arms.
Replace Compliance Mounts.
Do 4 wheel alignment.
Repair AC/ Heating servo.
Repair broken wire for Window motor.
I also replaced the battery.
There are a few things that don't work.
Headlamp wipers - Apparently "they all do that" and it's too big a job & will only happen again (due to Galvanic Corrosion)
Amp Meter - Not been looked into as I'm not too worried about it.
Driver control of Passenger window - The window works from the passenger side ok, but there is a break in the wire, probably through the driver door join, that stops the driver being able to control the passenger window.
There is a little Rust on the Near side Rear Arch (See Picture) but the rest are fine & I got Mulsanne to treat it with Lanoguard.
The Drivers carpet is threadbare, I've covered it with a cheap rubber mat as I find the wool overmats a bit odd to drive with.
Although the mileage is higher than some others out there, it does show it has been mechanically sound enough to be used all it's life.
She is currently stored in Stirling & I live in Falkirk.
Both are easy enough to get to & if you're coming up from down south, Edinburgh Airport (and Glasgow) aren't that far away.
