This car was purchased by my wife who fell in love with it at a car show several years ago but we had to wait for the owner to do a rally in France before we could have it. We do around 20 car shows a year with it and it is certainly a cut above the average example of this model. Since ownership, we have had a complete engine rebuild with machining done by KMB engineering in Cirencester. The car has recently had the twin SU’s thoroughly checked and re-tuned. The chassis is utterly sound and the body work excellent. The interior was re-trimmed in tthe 90’s when the car was returned to the UK and had a nut and bolt restoration by an MG Octagon club member. There are A4 folders of photographs and receipts. The car was exported new to the US but never got converted to LHD. Today, the car starts first time and feels really lively. The radiator grill and upholstery match as they should and other than the addition of flashing indicators, an upgraded cooling system and a non- standard steering wheel - everything is as it should be.
The reason for selling is that we are reducing our collection from three to one - and this and another car have to go.
The car has good side screens and a double duck hood. All tyres are good and she is ready to roll. We have really enjoyed owning this car and it should provide a new owner with lots of happy miles. The five speed gearbox allows for comfortable motorway speeds without bursting an ear drum. (The original box goes with the car). The car is a very early ((No 601) model and thus has the rare solid disc wheels.
