BMW 1502 manual, very solid car.
It has been in a garage for a large part of its life and so survived well. I stripped the car and welded the following areas. Drivers side foot well. Drivers side lower quarter section and sill area using the correct panels. Front floor pan replaced on passenger's side. Boot floor repair. Please see photos. After the car was welding the interior was reassembled. The cylinder head and carb were rebuilt by the previous owner. The block needs rebuilding.
I had plans to rebuild the engine into a 1. 8 litre. I had a detailed discussion and plan with retro engineering Ltd. who know these cars very well, to do the work on the block. The plan was; to fit a set of 84. 2 or 85mm Ti forged pistons and use an 80mm crankshaft, this will give an 1800 engine. It will still run with the same cylinder head and with either a down draft, twin choke carburetor, or a pair of twin 45DCOEs to produce a very lively engine. A mild camshaft to help the breathing and this should give around 110-120bhp. With twin Webbers I believe it could be closer to 140 bhp.
Unfortunately I am having to sell the car due to changes in work. The engine has been assembled loosely and installed for transport. There are new front discs and pads and a set of new seat covers that come with the car as well as many gaskets. Viewing welcome.
