Description
As a life-long enthusiast of Minors, I bought this van about eight years ago to indulge my passion and have some fun. I am only the fourth registered keeper of the vehicle. My circumstances are now such that I am no longer making much use of the van and so have reluctantly decided to offer it for sale.
It is always garaged and overall is in good condition, clearly lovingly cared for by its previous owners of almost 20 years too, during which time it was resprayed several times. The interior is very clean and tidy, the unusual antique-style heavy duty tapestry material reupholstery was carried out by the previous owners, and gives it that extra special feel.
This is not a ‘show van’ although with some careful attention it could become one, it is a very usable utility vehicle and would be ideal for promoting a small business or, as in my case, just for personal pleasure and fun. It turns heads wherever I go, I am always being asked about its history and the conversation often develops into reminiscences about previous Moggie driving experiences and ownership.
It has been regularly serviced and recently given a ‘virtual MoT’ by a local specialist garage. The engine starts and runs well, there is some rattle from the timing chain and under heavy load, it occasionally jumps out of first gear, but otherwise it drives very well. At some time in the past, the engine bay has been Waxolyed and although I have done some cleaning, with more work it could be made to really shine.
As I am no longer intending to own a Minor, there is also a small quantity of spare parts and other Minor related items that I have accumulated over many years being offered in the sale. The list includes; a radiator, fuel pumps, carburetors, dynamo generator and voltage regulator, indoor and outdoor covers. The van underwent a 'full body and cab rebuild’ by Minorite U. K Limited in Leicester in 1998; it still carries the brass registration plate and the original certificate and invoice for the work carried out is included in the documentation file.
The front brakes have been upgraded to discs and servo with remote top up brake fluid reservoir, a temperature gauge is fitted and more recently, ‘Accuspark Stealth’ electronic ignition and alternator conversion was carried out. Other work has included fitting a new radiator and hoses, rear brake drums and shoes, and electronic fuel pump.
The underside was fully inspected by ESM Minor Workshop a few years ago when limited repairs were carried out to the rear spring hangers and new bump stops fitted. The chassis was thoroughly cleaned and Dinitrol, Waxoyl and stone chip generously applied.
I have the DVLA owner history, and some additional information about the previous keepers. The van still has several interesting features which bear witness to them and their trades. The documentation file also contains receipts for all parts purchased and work carried during the last eight years while the van has been in my ownership.
