1990 MX5 BBR Turbo
One of 850 cars supplied by Mazda dealers, this early MX5 is fitted with the BBR Turbo conversion. The conversion was Mazda approved at time, and enabled the car to have the performance to match all the many other positive attributes of the MX5.
I'm the 3rd owner, and in my six years of ownership the car has had rear arch and sill repairs carried out by Suffolk Mazda. This is a common repair needed on early Mk1 MX5s. It's also received a mohair hood. The wheels, which are very rare and correct for a BBR, have been professionally refurbished. The car comes fully serviced including a recent cambelt change. A full set of Toyo tyres has also been recently fitted. A discreet turbo boost gauge has been fitted, although the original cubby box is included should a return to standard be desired. The car has a TR Lane roll bar fitted, but has not been on a race track. A stainless steel exhaust has been fitted, and the car also benefits from GAZ Classic adjustable suspension.
The current MOT runs to 5 June 2025. The car runs perfectly, with truly startling performance. A box file of history is included with magazine reviews and brochures.
The car is for sale as I am thinning down my classic car collection. However I am in no rush to sell and would like to see it go to the right owner. Original MX5 BBR Turbos are extremely thin on the ground in original, unmolested condition and this one must stay that way!
