Description

Here’s something that doesn’t come up for sale very often!

This Renault Twingo was new in Germany in 2004 then moved to Holland in 2007. I acquired it at the beginning of May and imported it to the UK via the correct channels. The NOVA was completed, import duties paid and has now been registered with DVLA gaining the registration number WO53 FRN. She has done 183000 KM which equates to about 114000 miles which over 20 years makes an average of about 6000 miles! Obviously the dash is still in KM.

On arrival I MOTd it, converted the fog lamp to suit UK requirements, fitted new brake discs and pads on the front, new shoes and wheel cylinders on the rear, a new drop link on one side and a new lambda sensor. It passed its MOT (requirement before registration) with only one advisory, that being the other front drop link.

Running wise it drives very well, I drove it back from Holland and have done 800km in the car. It sounds sweet enough for what it is and everything mechanically operates as expected. The clutch is fine, the gears are smooth and there is no knocking from suspension components. This is the 75hp 16V engine which I believe is the most sought after!

Body is 9/ 10, it’s fairly straight, it does have a few minor dings and a couple of light scratches, there’s a small bit of rust where the fuel door hinge sits but this wasn’t noted on the MOT, however the sills and underside are solid. The opening roof does what it’s supposed to do and doesn’t seem to leak, I was sat in the car while it was washed and I remained dry!

Inside it’s in reasonable condition for its age, it’s a non smoking car and doesn’t seem to have had animals in it. The parcel shelf is present as well! Electric windows both function correctly as do the electric mirrors. The drivers seat bolster has got some wear damage on it which can be seen in the photos. The original emergency glass break hammer is even fitted. It’s got the original radio/ CD player which is working. It could do with an interior detail but that isn’t really in my skill set. I have put an authentic French magic tree in the car just of fun.

There is a lot of paperwork with the car, mostly from its time in Holland, the book pack is present as is the original Fahrzeugschein from Germany. It did most of its mileage in its first 3 years while it was a German car and has had a relatively sedate life since. It still has the original twingo floor mats. There are 2 keys (1 remote inop) and a different key for the fuel cap.

Problems wise there is very little to report for a 20 year old French car that hasn’t already been covered. The drivers door lock pin is missing but the locks all still work (probably easily obtained online) and the passenger central locking motor is intermittent but does lock on the key at all time.

All in all not a bad car, more than happy for you to come and have a look and see what you think to the old girl, it’s priced fairly considering I have done all of the hard work in bringing it to the UK, dealing with customs, making the car road legal and then dealing with DVLA. It’s something that a lot of people wouldn’t have the patience for! The V5 has arrived!

Price is somewhat negotiable but I’m not going to accept silly offers. You can pay with bank transfer or cash and I’m more than happy to collect you from the station etc. Very hard to come by registered and road legal in England. These are great fun to drive with a great power to weight ratio!
