Great little Volvo 480. Needs light restoration to take it to the next level. Mot till October drives stop & starts as it should. Bought this for my son as he likes retro cars. Had this on L plates for 6 months & he learned to drive in this. We have been all over the place Norfolk / Suffolk with no issue at all. When my son passed his test the insurance was ridiculous cost between £7k-£8. 5k also he has to be 21 before most would even accept him. The car was going to be stored as we all love the car, but storage is too expensive & we need the space. He now has a Peugeot 1. 1 & needs to money for a motorcycle that he wants to buy as a project. Car was bought as a “ barn find “ along with 4 other volvo 480 cars that had been dry stored in a lockup for over 10years by a collector. The guys that we brought it from have uploaded a video of the find on youtube that can be found if you type in the car.
Good points : Leather interior is in lovely condition. All dash computer works fine.
Engine has been overhauled with full service with new battery new plugs all fluids & filters. Brakes have been completely sorted with all new brake pipes fitted. We sourced loads of difficult parts like window seals head lights, indicators that were broken or missing & got this car running sweet & through its MOT.
Bad points that did not bother us.
Drivers door has a dent / crease where it looks like its been over extended due to being hit by a car or blown by the wind. This is why its been classified as a insurance write off we believe in the past. This has pulled the door stay hinge out inside as well. The door opens & closes perfectly so we didn't bother with it. Odometer stopped working? Common issue apparently. Last mot has it showing 102000 on the clock.
Heated seats dont work and some slight surface rust to the rear arches. Nothing a handy mechanic could sort in no time to make this a really top classic they are getting harder to find on UK roads. Needs a new home to someone who wants to take it to next level.
