I am the second owner since 2016 from about 26k miles, now the mileage is just under 72k. The car was originally sold by Buckingham & Stanley in Oxford and have always been serviced by the same dealer.
Good bits about the car: comes with a type 2 charging cable for quick home and public charging if needed, along with the original 3 pin charger. As you can see it is showing 41 miles of range after a full charge, it can be 43 on warmer days. The actual range in reality is actually slightly longer if drive carefully. I used to do 40 miles return trips to my office in London, when the car was exempt from congestion charge, and still had 4 or 5 miles left when I got home.
The Volt has a very cleaver driving system, a simple and reliable planetary system enables electric motor drive, motor plus generator drive and motor, generator plus engine drive mode depending on needs. The Volt is way ahead of its time, even today there are not many plug-in hybrid cars with 40 miles of pure electric range.
Now I will try my best to list all the ‘bad’ bits:
Externally, as shown in the pictures, there is a small dent plus a scratch mark near the back of offside passenger door, it is not deep but visible. There is also a scratch on the nearside rear bumper/ lower wheel arch area. The wheels have some bubbles coming up but there are no big curbing marks. As shown in the last service record, the off side front tyre is showing some wearing on the inner side.
There is a scratch mark on the driver-side mirror housing on the edge. The left near side mirror is hard to fold maybe because the lack of regular of folding, which we don’t normally need, maybe a little bit of WD40 will do the job.
Interior wise, it is in very very good condition, all switches and touch buttons work and there is no damages at all apart from a very very small scratch on the right shoulder of the left passenger seat back, which I pointed out in the picture with my finger. There is also a barely visible blemish in the rearview mirror close to the anti glare switch, it takes me some effort to capture with my camera. Also I noticed the small round cover for the bottom attach point of driver’s seatbelt went missing, will try to find it if it fell under the seat or carpet somewhere. The rear view camera plays sometimes, re-engaging revers gear could bring it back, think it is the switch.
There are no noises from engine or chassis nor warning messages of any kind. The only things not working are the two cigarettes lighter sockets on the central console, the one on dashboard is working though. The original air pump stopped working but I can find a third party one if needed.
I am expecting £6500 for the car which I am sure you will agree is a lot of car for the money. I have other electric and hybrid cars and really need to reduce the size of my fleet.
