FROM MY FATHER RECOLLECTION THIS CAR "OUL 69Y" WAS THE SECOND RIGHT HAND DRIVE CAR TO BE SUPPLIED BY THEM !
I PURCHASED THE CAR IN NOVEMBER 2022 TO MAKE LIKE NEW AND TAKE TO MY HOME IN SPAIN
HOWEVER DUE TO BREXIT AND THE TRICKY SPANISH AUTHORITIES I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY PURCHASED A LEFT HAND DRIVE CAR AS RE- REGISTRATION IN SPAIN IS EASIER WITH A EUROPEAN REGISTERED CAR THAN A RIGHT HAND DRIVE UK CAR !!
SO THE UR IS NEARLY 42 YEARS OLD AND AS SUCH QUALIFIES AS AN HISTORIC VEHICLE SO ROAD TAX AND MOT EXEMPT
WHILST THE CAR IS BEING SOLD AS A PROJECT IS FAR FROM A ROTTEN BASKET CASE AND ALTHOUGH IT WILL NEED SOME FABRICATION AND A REPAINT ITS NOT A TOTAL ROT BOX
MECHANICALLY THE ENGINE SEEMS LOVELY AND ALTHOUGH IT WILL NO DOUBT NEED A FULL TOP TO TOE SERVICE / CAMBELTS / WATERPUMP ETC ETC , IT STARTS IMMEDIATELY AND RUNS LIKE A SWISS WATCH. IT EVEN IDLES SWEETLY !! THERE ARE NO APPARENT OIL LEAKS EITHER !
THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM IS NOT SUFFERING THE USUAL LONG TERM STANDING ISSUES AND IT WOULD SEEM THAT THE HEART OF THE CAR IS IN BASICALLY SOUND MECHANICAL SHAPE !
THE CLUCH IS FREE AND THE CAR SELECTS GEARS AND CAN BE MOVED BACK AND FORWARD FOR LOADING PURPOSES
MANY OF THESE UR "PROJECTS" ARE SOLD FOR THIS PRICE WITH THE ENGINE BEING AN UNKNOWN QUANTITY SO KNOWING THE ENGINE AND GEARBOX ARE GOOD IS A MASSIVE PLUS POINT
THE INTERIOR IS STILL IN REALLY GOOD SHAPE
THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN LEFT IN THE ELEMENTS TO ALLOW THE DASH AND INTERIOR TO BAKE AND CRACK IN THE SUN
THE DOOR CARS ARE GOOD AS IS THE ORIGINAL "NEGRO" TRIMMED ROOF LINER
THE CARPETS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDTION AND THE CAR STILL RETAINS ALL ITS ORIGINAL INTERIOR TRIMS INCLUDING THE CORRECT EARLY LEATHER SMALLER "TURBO"STEERING WHEEL
THE GLASS IS CORRECT AND ALL GOOD
THE FRONT SEATS ARE GOOD AS IS THE REAR BACKREST
IT SEEMS THE REAR SEAT BASE MUST HAVE BEEN MISPLACED AS ITS BEEN REPLACED WITH ONE FRON A GT COUPE . THIS WILL NEED EITHER RETRIMMING OR REPLACING WITH THE CORRECT ONE ( THE MATERIAL IS AVAILABLE VIA AUDI TRADITIONS IM TOLD )
OVERALL THE INTERIOR IS GREAT FOR A 42 YEAR OLD AUDI AND WITH A DETAILED CLEAN COULD LOOK SUPERB
I HAD A CLASSIC CAR RESTORER GO OVER THE BODYWORK AND HE WAS IMPRESSED AT HOW GENERALLY SOLID THE UR WAS AND HE COMMENTED THAT HE HAD SEEN CARS FAR FAR WORSE THAN THIS ONE RESTORED
IT WILL NEEDS THE FRONT WINGS RE-FABRICATED IN PLACES ( REPAIR PANELS AVAILABLE)
THE REAR BOOT LID IS RUSTY HOWEVER A REPLACEMENT RUST FREE BOOT LID IS INCLUDED
THE REAR WHEEL ARCHES WILL NEED REPAIR SECTIONS FABRICATED
THE ROOF IS SOLID WITH NO ROT
THE FRONT SCUTTLE IS SOLID WITH NO MAJOR ROT JUST A FEW SURFACE PATCHES
THE BULKHEAD IS ROCK SOLID
THE INNER WINGS AND ENGINE BAY AREA HAS NO OBVIOUS CORROSION ISSUES
THE BONNET WILL NEED JUST PREP AND PAINT
THE DOORS WILL NEED JUST PREP AND PAINT
THE SILLS APPEAR SOLID BUT EXPECT SOME LIGHT FABRICATION WHERE THE FRONT WINGS MEET THE SILLS
THE "A" POST SEEM GOOD
THE BOOT FLOOR HAS HAD SOME WORK CARRIED OUT BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO FITTED A NEW GENUINE AUDI REAR PANEL ( THIS WILL NEED FINISHING WHEN THE BODYSHOP PAINT IT)
THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS ARE COMPLETE AND IN GOOD CONDITION
THE LIGHTS ARE ALSO COMPLETE AND IN GOOD CONDITION
THE CAR IS COMPLETE WITH THE ONLY APPARENT PART MISSING BEING THE EXHAUST ( NO BIG DEAL !! )
