Description
2002 Vauxhall VX220 naturally aspirated in British Racing Green with tan leather trim. First registered to Vauxhall Motors and then one private owner until I purchased it from a Vauxhall Dealership in 2018 having then covered 27000 miles. The car is in first class condition throughout, genuinely very difficult to fault. It has correct wheels with correct Bridgestone tyres, the front end has been clear wrapped to protect from stone chips and there are uprated exhaust and induction systems (originals will come with the car). It has been serviced annually from the outset apart from a couple of years in the previous ownership when it must have been on SORN as there is a corresponding gap in the MoT history. I have had it looked after by a local supercar specialist who take the under floor down each year to fully check suspension, brakes, steering and everything else otherwise inaccessible. It missed one year due to COVID, but hardly did any miles during that time.
This is a truly stunning car, both in appearance and to drive. I have now owned it very nearly 6 years taking the mileage to 38000 and, as I am now in my 70's, the time has come to change it for something a little more sedate!I previously built and owned a Caterham and needed to change it for something a little more practical but still a sports car. I saw the VX220 as a better looking alternative to a Lotus Elise with which it shares a chassis and felt the Vauxhall engine would be more robust than a Rover K series. Also I preferred the Idea of the non turbo 2. 2 version as it has a cam chain whereas the 2. 0 turbo has a cam belt requiring more and potentially expensive maintenance.
With the freer flowing exhaust and induction systems and choosing to run it on E5 high octane fuel, the car performs extremely well with exceptional handling and braking.
The colour combination of British Racing Green with tan leather is very rare and particularly suits the car.
