Description
Running 1974 webasto top Beetle (Jeans Registry) MOT and Taxed
I've moved to Canada, therefore have no use. Bought in 2016 and restored over the next year, then remained my daily driver for five years. The case originally 1600 twin port (twin relief case meaning it has pressure relief valves front & back ) & heads are bored out to take oversize barrels & pistons - stock crank & cam giving 1914cc. stock 34pict3 carb - the result is a torque biased power curve. Modified external oil filter feeding back into case via the pressure relief port near the oil pump. Original "dog house" cooler no external cooler fitted. New front end welded in (spare wheel box) & good metal grafted into "C" pillars. rear panel bolted to enable easier engine removal. new clutch at time of engine build Floor pan treated with phosphoric acid to convert any existing minor rust & full cavity wax oil treatment after the car was painted to retard any rust returning. New webasto outer roof vinyl & custom period & model correct short roof lining fitted. LED lights fitted in leadlamps.
Full set of carpets bought but never fitted. Cosmetic damage as evidence in the pictures, from where it has been sat for the past year and a half. My first car. Found sitting for 10 years after an engine fire gaining the nickname of Phoenix, because she will never die, but it's time for another rebirth. Such a simple beast, taught me everything about mechanics and engineering in the process of restoration, then became my daily driver for work and college, remaining that for the next five years. No other car gives the feeling of driving a classic beetle (trust me i drive lefthand automatic now)
