Description

JAGUAR E TYPE XKE SERIES 1 3. 8 ROADSTER LEFT HAND DRIVE

IMPORTED FOR ME BY REGAL CAR RESTORATIONS IN 1989 AS A PARTIALLY DISMANTLED RESTORATION PROJECT AND SUPPLIED BY THEM WITH NEW FLOOR PANELS FITTED.
THE CAR IS ALMOST COMPLETE, MISSING THE SEATS AND EXHAUSTS WHICH YOU WOULD REPLACE AS PART OF THE RESTORATION, CARB TRUMPETS, FRONT SIDE LIGHTS AND PROBABLY A FEW OTHER MINOR PARTS WHICH SHOULD BE READILY AVAILABLE. IT IS LOOSELY ASSEMBLED AND WILL REQUIRE PLENTY OF NEW NUTS AND BOLTS.
THE BODY, CHASSIS AND GEARBOX HAVE MATCHING NUMBERS BUT THE ENGINE IS NOT THE ORIGINAL, THE PREVIOUS OWNER IN OREGON HAVING HAD THE ORIGINAL STOLEN IN THE 80’S. THE ENGINE FITTED TURNS. IT SHOULD BE EASY TO REFRESH AND GET RUNNING.
THE CAR IS VERY STRUCTURALLY SOUND WITH NEW FLOORS AND APPEARS TO NEED ONLY VERY MINOR WELDING UNLIKE MANY RUSTY HULKS THAT COME UP FOR SALE. THERE IS A SMALL AMOUNT OF WELDING REQUIRED IN THE BONNET NOSE AND THE SILL FRONT CLOSING PANELS WILL NEED LOOKING AT. THE DOORS OPEN AND CLOSE EASILY WITH A GOOD FIT WHICH INDICATES THAT THE STRUCTURE IS STILL OK.
I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR AND KEPT IT IN DRY STORAGE FOR NEARLY 35 YEARS WITH THE INTENTION OF FIXING IT AND GETTING IT RUNNING AND ON THE ROAD, BUT HAVE NEVER HAD THE TIME TO START WORK ON THE PROJECT. WHERE DID ALL THOSE YEARS GO?
I HAVE DECIDED THAT I AM NOW TOO OLD TO LAUNCH MYSELF INTO ANOTHER LARGE PROJECT, PREFERING TO WORK ON OLD MOTORCYCLES WHICH TAKE A LOT LESS ROOM AND EFFORT.
SO HERE WE HAVE A PRETTY SOUND, PRIVATELY OWNED, DESIRABLE, SERIES 1 ROADSTER THAT CAN BE RESTORED BY A KEEN AMATEUR RESTORER TO GOOD DRIVING CONDITION OR PROFESSIONALLY RESTORED TO BECOME A £100, 000+ IMMACULATE ICONIC SHOW CAR.
INCLUDED IS A JAGUAR WORKSHOP MANUAL, PARTS BOOK AND HERITAGE CERTIFICATE
THE V5 IS IN MY NAME
The car was built 13th June '62 and was shipped to Jaguar Cars New York. , finally ending up in St. Helens Oregon.
