Description
I bought this T140D 2 years ago as a low mileage matching numbers complete but slightly scruffy American import, it has subsequently been subjected to a full ground up restoration to the condition you see in the pictures.
As I say it was low mileage, just over 11k was showing on the working speedometer, I checked through the oil system, cleaned the carbs and fitted a new battery, it fired up easily so I ran it round for a couple of weeks to evaluate, with no issues to report I stripped the bike for rebuild.
The frame has been soda blasted which removed the old paint and eliminates the risk of the ingress of grit into the oil bearing part of the frame, then re finished with 2k etch primer and super tough and shiny 2k black, along with the swingarm and all other black components you can see.
The forks have been refurbished with new seals and stanchions
The brakes have also been refurbished with new lines, rebuilt master cylinders and callipers
The engine was stripped, it was in perfect condition which supports the 11k miles showing on the speedometer, while it was apart I cleaned out the sludge trap ( there was very little in it) and swapped the big ends (again they didn’t need doing but while it was apart it doesn’t hurt) The main bearings showed no signs of wear and were re used, original triumph mains are of excellent quality. The gearbox was stripped and checked, there were no issues so was simply reassembles with new oil seals.
The engine is on standard bore with no wear, I did change the rings while it was apart.
The valves were reground and the springs were replaced
All oil seals were replaced during reassembly.
The wiring harness is brand new, as is the electronic ignition unit, the coils, and solid state regulator rectifier box.
The wheel bearings have been replaced the wheels have been re finished and the shock absorbers are new.
The exhaust system is new front to back with original equipment 2 into 1 downpipes matched to a short peashooter silencer which sounds fantastic.
The paint on the tank and side panels is new 2k, the gold stripes are paint and NOT simply stick on pinstriping
The tyres are new
The seat is new
The clutch cable is new
The chain is new, along with loads of nuts bolts and fasteners to make a restoration look as good as this. The carbs are new mikunis which are a huge improvement over the standard amals, the speedo and tacho have been replaced as the speedo glass is broken, the old unit does come with the bike. The new speedometer shows 260 miles since the rebuild was completed. As you would expect the bike looks fantastic, starts easily and runs beautifully, a walk round video is available on request which includes a “virtual test ride” so you can see how the bike performs on the road
The bike is UK registered as historic so exempt from MOT and road tax, I have the V5C in my name, viewing is encouraged, cash or bank transfer on collection only please
