Description
Genuine 1948 Indian Chief. I have owned it since 2018. I bought it from a Indian guru in Scotland. It came as a freshly paint rolling frame with new rims and stainless spokes. I paint it and added the rear fender which was fitted to original holes in the frame. The frame is as original so if you wanted to return to original you could.
The engines runs Bonneville cams and pistons which were new. Carburation is through a Keihin carb as fitted to Harleys. The original Bonneville carb will come with the bike. With the Keihin it improves mpg from mid 40s to mid 60s, power is up some 40%, and it starts hot or cold with no issues. Charging is via a modern dynamo which does as it should.
This has a foot clutch, jockey shift, left hand throttle, and right hand advance/ retard. It rides great. I am an engineering lecturer and regularily commute 50 miles round trip and it's faultless.
A large majority of the parts I've bought for this bike came from Mike Tomas at Kiwi Indian in the States. It's quality components that he sells. I haven't had to adjust the points in 2000 miles!. I've owned this bike for 8 years and it has been on the road for 5 of those. It's a reliable, comfortable, and very usable classic bike which generates a crowd wherever you go!. I'm downsizing my stable of bikes and am looking for a classic muscle which I may take in exchange....
